Intern Spotlight: Meet Meghan

Bonny Calfy | December 5, 2016

Meghan interned with Paycom summer 2016.

When asked what she enjoyed most about the internship she said, “What I loved most about the internship was truly feeling like I’m able to put my passions and skills to work towards something that makes a difference in the business world and in the lives of Paycom clients. Paycom is changing the world of HR and the landscape of employment for the better and I’m proud to be a part of that.”

Describe the culture and people.

I’m surrounded every single day by intelligent, hardworking and motivated people who make me better. After listening to Jeff York talk I always feel like anything is possible. He’s an amazing speaker. Lauren Matthews could influence me to pick up a car if I really wanted to. I got up every day this summer excited to go to work and that’s an incredible feeling.

Paycom is centrally focused on training and development. My team devoted about five hours every week to LEARNING – so incredible! I was able to leverage and apply what I’ve learned in school to this point but in execution, you learn so much more. Doing this internship will afford any student a robust and usable understanding of strategic sales, marketing, operations, EBIDTA, public speaking, interpersonal relations, project management and much more. I couldn’t imagine a better way to capitalize on my college experience and I got paid for it!

The Paycom internship was the hardest thing I’ve ever done workwise. Working for Paycom was, naturally, the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. After the first winner’s circle, I remarked to one of the team members that it was cool we got to celebrate our successes every year. She said “Oh, we do this every month!” I was amazed by how well Paycom rewards success. The cycle of hard work and achievement is inspiring and has made me better in other areas of my life as well.

The job challenged me to move outside my comfort zone and I appreciate it even more for that. There is an amazing amount of fulfillment that comes from accomplishing something that you worked hard for and I look forward to doing that in the decades to come with Paycom.

Why would Paycom be a better internship opportunity than any other for a young eager professional?

You’re going to be compensated and extrinsically rewarded better than you could ever imagine for working hard and doing something that is already internally rewarding. Having done internships prior to Paycom, I can claim with confidence that there is no experience like it.

Any final thoughts on your internship at Paycom?

Paycom is my dream job. I love helping others and thrive when solving business problems. Paycom is the best vehicle I could imagine to put the two together and create change. I am able to put my degree, skills and passions in practice the way I always hoped I’d be able to. It has made me more confident, self-assured and enthused to create the life I want outside of work while also truly enjoying my career and chosen profession at the company.
I’ve never worked for a company that has so many strong female leaders but at Paycom I have met and heard from dozens of women who I look up to and seek to emulate. That is so awesome!
