Lauren Toppins, Paycom’s Staff Attorney, was named to okcBIZ’s class of 2013 Forty Under 40, honoring Oklahoma residents based on community involvement, professional achievements and career development.
Toppins is no stranger to the spotlight as she was one of ION Oklahoma Magazine’s 30 under 30 in 2011. As one of 40 winners that were selected from more than 150 nominees for the Forty Under 40 accolade, Toppins will receive a $5,000 scholarship from Oklahoma City University’s Meinders School of Business and a published profile in the Oct. issue of okcBIZ magazine.
“Forty Under 40 extols the achievements and community involvement these young people demonstrate while exhibiting work/life balance,” said Jeffri-Lynn Dyer, okcBIZ publisher.
A two-time University of Oklahoma graduate, Toppins joined the Paycom team in 2010 after beginning her professional career as Associate General Counsel at Claimetrics/Hallmark Management where she was later named General Counsel. Upon her arrival at Paycom, Toppins established the company’s legal department and directly assisted the company in acquiring ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 certification.
In her spare time, Toppins is an active member in the Greater OKC Chamber where she is on the Education and Workforce Steering Committee and serves as the co-emcee for the program, introducing various leaders in Oklahoma City. In addition to her outreach through the Chamber, Toppins is a LOYAL (Linking OKC’s Young Adult Leaders) member and served on the steering committee of the Oklahoma Prosperity Project.
“I am truly honored to be selected as one of Oklahoma’s Forty Under 40,” Toppins said. “This accomplishment embodies individuals dedicated to serving the community of Oklahoma. I have been blessed to have wonderful mentors throughout my education and career and am proud to be able to give back to others in the local community. This is the community that helped mold me into the professional I’ve become today, so it is only fair I give back to it.”
Toppins is a native of Lawton where she attended Lawton High School. She was a two-time graduate from the University of Oklahoma where she earned her bachelor’s degree in criminology and her Juris Doctor. Toppins and her husband, Matt, currently reside in Edmond with their daughter, Dylan.
An awards ceremony is scheduled for Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. inside the IAO Gallery in downtown Oklahoma City. For more information, visit www.okcbiz.com.
