Paycom, a provider of human capital management technology, was given the Christmas Hero Award at The Salvation Army’s Appreciation Luncheon Thursday, May 16 for its $31,937 donation to the organization back on Dec. 21, 2012.
“There was one company that called us up and helped us during the holidays and that was Paycom,” Salvation Army Major Dan Proctor said. “They raised nearly $31,000 for The Salvation Army and they really helped save the day for The Salvation Army bell ringing project in Oklahoma. We are truly thankful for Paycom.”
The Salvation Army was $64,000 shy of matching last year’s total prior to receiving Paycom’s gift, which lifted the organization past their 2012 goal. As part of the fundraising efforts, Paycom employees took part in a raffle where the money given was then matched – $1.50 for every $1 raised – by Paycom. Paycom’s gift was the largest employee and company combined donation The Salvation Army of Central Oklahoma received in 2012.
Former First Lady of Oklahoma, Cathy Keating, gave the keynote address before community supporters inside the area command center. In addition to the Christmas Hero Award, Paycom was also named as a member of The William Booth Society, recognizing and honoring corporations who make an annual gift of $5,000 or more to support Army programs and services.
“I am proud to say that we were able to help save the day for The Salvation Army,” Paycom Executive Vice President of Operations Stacey Pezold said. “It is great to be part of an organization that gives back to the community like we do and I look forward to supporting future campaigns.”
