Employees at Paycom demonstrated their giving spirit during National Payroll Week (NPW), September 3rd through the 7th, with a canned food drive resulting in a donation of 3,384 canned goods to the Oklahoma Regional Food Bank.
Paycom celebrates NPW on an annual basis and 2012 marked the second year for the company to incorporate a canned food drive benefiting the agency into their festivities. “As a company we are always seeking ways to give back to causes in which we believe,” said Lauren Toppins, Staff Attorney for Paycom. “With all of our resources, there is no reason why any child in Oklahoma should ever go to bed hungry. We believe every donation makes a difference.”
During Paycom’s NPW festivities, employees teamed up to participate in an Olympic themed competition. The canned food drive was one of the team challenges and over 26 teams went head-to-head to see which team could bring in the most canned goods.
“Not only was it a competition but we were able to give back to the community,” said Rachel Meinke, Marketing Specialist and member of the winning canned food drive team. “Sure there were some words exchanged in fun but at the end of the day we were providing food to hungry Oklahomans.”
The Oklahoma Regional Food Bank is the largest private hunger-relief organization in the state of Oklahoma. In Fiscal Year 2012, the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma distributed 42.2 million pounds of food and product through a network of nearly 1,000 partner agencies and schools throughout 53 central and western Oklahoma counties. The Regional Food Bank provides enough food to feed more than 90,000 people each week – nearly half of which are children.
About National Payroll Week
The American Payroll Association founded National Payroll Week in 1996 as a way to celebrate the hard work by America’s 156 million wage earners and the payroll professionals who pay them. Together, through the payroll withholding system, they contribute, collect, report and deposit approximately $1.7 trillion, or 71.8 percent, of the annual revenue of the U.S. Treasury.
