We sat down with Savanna to talk about how her career at Paycom has helped her grow personally and professionally.

A leader to look up to

The first thing that drew me to Paycom was my manager, Becca. I had one interview and immediately knew I wanted to work for her. She was so excited to be growing her team and shared her Paycom story with me. It was inspiring to hear about the success she had seen throughout her career at Paycom. Her energy was infectious, and I could really tell that she was ready to pour everything she had into someone else. It was exactly what I was looking for.

After my rounds of interviews with Paycom, I discovered that not only would I get to work for Becca, but my whole hierarchy of reporting, as well as my future teammates, would be amazing, hardworking women who had grown their families while accomplishing so much here. Why would I not want to be a part of that?

Tapping into my potential

I was with my previous employer for almost five years, but I felt like I wasn’t tapping into my full potential from a true sales skill set.

The professional development that you get at Paycom — even in the first three weeks of training — has not only taken me outside of my comfort zone and grown me personally, but it has also sharpened my sales skills and grown me professionally more than I ever expected.

We are under the best sales leadership I have ever seen. There is nothing like it. It’s funny because we leave every executive rep training and say, “That was the best one yet!” If you’re looking to be trained by the best sales force and work alongside the top sales reps in the country, this is the place to be.

The Paycom advantage

Unlike most sales roles in the HRIS space, we get to work the entire process from start to finish. It’s really unique because we truly have control over everything.

We set our own meetings, go on sales calls, strategize deals and run the demos. It’s a huge differentiator because it would be really difficult to passionately sell a software you have no idea how to use yourself. A lot of companies have their tech people run the demo.

We even stay on during implementation to help make sure the client has a successful go live, which is really important to me because we’ve already built such a strong relationship. I also love that we get to work with and learn about different industries. I was born and raised in Charlotte, NC, but it has been really eye-opening to see how many businesses are here and in the surrounding cities and have the opportunity to work with so many I grew up around.

Exceeding my own expectations

The goals I’ve set for myself at Paycom are goals that I never thought I would be able to set, let alone accomplish in my late twenties. Paycom has helped me completely reimagine how I can build a life for myself, my fiancé and our future family.

It has taken me completely out of my comfort zone, but I’ve grown so much. The opportunity we’re given here is like no other.

Coming into 2024, I was unsure of what I wanted to accomplish because the goals I had in the back of my mind felt so far away. My manager, Becca, challenged and inspired me to completely flip my mindset. She pushed me to set goals that were even bigger than what I imagined.

Well, not even six months into the year I accomplished all the personal, professional and financial goals I had set out to achieve. I’m most proud of making my first Paycom President’s Club, taking my now fiancé to Italy, becoming debt free, being able to donate to Hurricane Helene relief and purchasing my dream car.

If it weren’t for Becca believing in me, I would have never had the courage to go after some of those goals. I am so thankful for her support and leadership over the last few years.

Investing in our future

Of course, the uncapped commission plan is wonderful. But the future planning that they give us here is amazing, including the employee stock purchase plan and generous 401(k) matching.

The $1-per-pay-period individual health insurance is also incredible. People don’t believe me, but I tell them I can see it on my check every other week in the Paycom app.

If you’re contemplating applying, even if you’re scared, even if you don’t think you’re good at cold calling, challenge yourself and put yourself out there. As long as you’re willing to put in the work and develop your skills, there is something for you here. Stop thinking about it and apply!
