Roland knows what it’s like to serve a close-knit community. He grew up in Poteet, Texas, a small ranch town just 30 minutes south of San Antonio, where he was born. With less than 4,000 people in Poteet, Roland said it was easy to know everyone.
In 2016, Roland and his wife headed north to pursue work in Oklahoma. Two years later, he completed Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (aka CLEET). Roland held several security positions before taking a patrol opportunity at Paycom’s Oklahoma City headquarters.
We caught up with Roland to talk about career growth, his favorite benefits and his Paycom journey.
What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned at Paycom?
Opportunity is always there for those who are willing to pursue it. Paycom offers so much continuing education for security officers and employees, so I try to continue to learn as much as I can. Most importantly, being prepared is always key to how well you do your job and maintain your work ethic.
What advice do you have for aspiring employees?
Come give it a go! Paycom is such a wide and diverse company. We have so many important positions that allow you to grow from the ground up. Find what you enjoy and apply!
What’s your favorite part about working in corporate security?
Supporting the Paycom community. We don’t just protect and serve, but also engage with everyone each day. This means I’m always able and available to lend a helping hand to every employee.
What’s your favorite Paycom memory?
There’s too many to choose from, but if I had to pick just one, it would be accomplishing my gym goals with the fitness and recreation team through our free, on-site gym.
